What is Life Coaching?

Put simply, Life Coaching helps people to achieve clarity and confidence to move forwards in their lives.
I aim to work with you to make your life the best it can be. I usually start by helping you to identify your goals, clarify them, to make sure that these are the right goals for YOU. I never forget that you are the expert on YOU - I will bring our skills to work with you to energise you to make the positive changes you want to make. It is a very positive and future focussed way of looking at your situation.

Who would benefit from Life Coaching?

The short answer is ANYONE! Anyone could benefit from having a space to reflect on what is going on in their lives and what the state of play is. As your Life Coach I will provide the space, questions and time for you to be honest with yourself about what is going well and the areas you might want to make changes. To give you a few ideas as to why people choose Life Coaching - they may be feeling a bit stuck or may be lacking direction; they may be feeling a bit dissatisfied with some aspect of their lives or at some kind of crossroads; they may have a decision to make. Or maybe they may want to talk confidentially to someone outside of their family and friends, who may not be able to help - despite their best intentions. They may be at a new chapter in their lives, such as returning to work or retiring from work. Health problems may have impacted on their lives; or a relationship may have run into difficulties or ended. These, as well as other reasons, make people consider Life Coaching.

What is NLP?

Neuro Linguistic Programming is a technique which can be used to quickly enhance some areas of a person's life. “Neuro” meaning nerve, refers to the way we gather information from the outside world, using our five senses. “Linguistic” is the study of language. This refers to the way we make sense of that information by organising it into the structure of language. Finally, “programming” is our way of controlling something. This refers to how we interpret the world and how we control our daily actions, choices and behaviours. Here at Unlock Your Wellbeing, I use it integrally with coaching meaning some of the questioning will have roots in NLP and some of my techniques will involve NLP.

I found the Life Coaching sessions with Anne-Marie so helpful, the warm welcome put me at ease from the start. I found that Anne-Marie was adaptable to my style of learning so that I was able to understand the areas we were looking at.

It was so interesting to look at the areas in my life that I was finding a challenge, once these were identified it was amazing how quickly I became more confident in these areas.

I feel like I turned a huge corner in my life after spending time in Life Coaching with Anne-Marie.

Where did Life Coaching come from?

Life coaching has been around since ancient times - Socrates introduced ways of questioning that will be familiar to coaches today. Of course top sports people have long had a Coach, to identify ways of fine tuning their amazing skills to become champions. Life Coaching is now the 2nd fastest growth industry in the world – behind Information Technology - and with good reason as it is all about personal development and making the best of our lives. I aim to champion you to have the best life you can!

What happens in Life Coaching sessions?

It starts with a series of exploratory questions, to see what areas of your life you are satisfied with and which you would like to make changes to. I help you to explore your beliefs and values and where these ‘fit’ with your life. You may have that unnerving and uncomfortable feeling of being a square peg in a round hole and wonder why?
The various coaching tools and techniques used can help you to have more insight into this and see what changes you might want to make, both for today and for the future. You and everyone else is an individual. This flexibility and experience will offer you a wonderful unique experience – no two Life Coaching sessions will be the same. I am not the expert - I will collaborate with you to find lots of ways of finding your motivation to make the changes YOU feel will benefit you. I will provide a confidential and safe place for you to challenge yourself to find the really important answers you are looking for.

Will you be pointing out all the things I am doing wrong?

Life Coaching isn't like that – it is very much based on the positives, on your strengths, your resources, your achievements and you being fully aware of them. My aim is to let you find all your strengths, values and what is important to you, what inspires you, so you can be motivated to live in the best way possible for YOU.
